Soul, I Beseech Thee, to Everlasting Life. Amen

O Lord God, merciful Father, for having been pleased to send thy only-begotten Son, Jesus Christ, to goffer death for us sinners, even the most shameful death of the cross, that he might offer himself to thee a most pure, holy, and acceptable sacrifice for our sins, and thereby purge our wicked consciences from all spots of uncleanness. By this thy exceeding great love to us, and by these most bitter tor- ments of thy Son our Saviour, we humbly beseech thee con- tinually to impart to us the fruits of our redemption, that we may daily die to the world, and be crucified to the lusts and desires of the flesh, and live to thee alone during our whole life, that in the end we may rejoice everlastingly in thy king- dom ; where, with thy eternal Son, and the Holy Ghost, thou livest and reignest one God, for ever and ever.
