Lord Jesus Christ hath vouchsafed to call him to his holy grace and be- nediction, and to the font of baptism. Here he makes the sign of the Cross , with his thumb, on the forehead of the person to be baptised, saying : Et hoc signum sanctm cru- cis + quod nos fronti ejus da- mus, tu, maledicte diabole, nunquam audeas violare. Per eumaem Christum Dominum nostrum.

R. Arnen. And this sign of the holy cross + which we make upon his forehead, do thou, accursed devil, never dare to violate. Through the same Christ our Lord.
