R. Amen

Priest. Peace be with thee.

R. And with thy spirit. Let us pray.

O God of our fathers, O God, the Author of all truth, we humbly beseech thee, gra- ciously vouchsafe to look upon this thy servant, N., and, tast- THE SACRAMENT OF BAPTISM. et hoc primum pabulum salis gustantem, non diutius esurire permittas, quo minus cibo ex- pleatur coelesti, quatenus sit semper spiritu fervens, spe gaudens, tuo semper nomini serviens.

Ergo, maledicte diabole, re- cognosce sententiam tuam, et da honorem Deo vivo et vero, da honorem Jesu Christo Filio ejus, et Spiritui Sancto, et re- cede ab hoc famulo Dei, N., quia istum sibi Deus, et Do- minus noster Jesus Christus ad suam sanctam gratiam, et benedictionem, fontemque baptismatis vocare dignatus est. ing this first nutriment of salt, suffer him no longer to hunger for want of being filled with heavenly meat, so that he may be always fervent in spirit, rejoicing in hope, always serv- ing thy Name. Bring him, O Lord, we beseech thee, to the laver of the new regeneration, that, with thy faithful, he may deserve to attain unto the ever- lasting rewards of thy pro- mises. Through Christ our Lord.

R. Amen
