R. Thanks be to God. HYMN. 1 O great Creator of the light, Who, from the darksome womb of night. Brought ’st forth new light at nature’s birth. To shine upon the face of earth. 2 Who by the morn and ev’ning ray Hast measured time, and call’d it day : Vouchsafe to hear our prayers and tears, Whilst sable night involves the spheres. 3 Lest our frail mind, with sins defiled. From gift of life should be exiled, And whilst this passing world beguiles, Should sink a prey to Satan’s wiles. 4 O may she soar to heaven above, The happy seat of life and love !

O may she grieve for every sin, And all her faults to shun begin ! 5 This prayer, most gracious Father, hear, Co-equal Son, incline thine ear ; Who, with the Holy Ghost and thee, Doth live and reign eternally. Amen
