O most merciful Redeemer ! I humbly be- seech thee, by those ineffable torments, and the immense grief which thou wert pleased to suffer for me, an unworthy creature, espe- cially when thy Divine soul was separated DEVOTIONS ON THE from thy body, that thou wilt have mercy on my soul at its final separation, and comfort me then, as thou didst the penitent thief, say- ing, “ This day thou shalt be with me m paradise.** Jt.
