Prayers for the Dead
O Lord, from the lowest pit. Thou nast heard my voice ; turn not away thy ear from my sighs and my cries. Thou drewest near in tne day when I called upon thee ; thou saidst, fear not ; thou hast judged, O Lord, the cause of my soul, thou the Redeemer of my life. Lament, iii. Open thine eyes, and behold ; for the dead that are in hell, whose spirit is taken away from their bowels, shall not give glory and justice to the Lord. But the soul that is sorrowful for the greatness of evil she hath done, and goeth bowed down, and feeble, and the eyes that fail, and the hungry soul giveth glory and justice to thee, O Lord. Baruch ii. Eternal rest, &c. % Sitfijilnni. Deliver us, O Lord, from eternal death, in that tremendous day when the heavens and the earth shall be moved ; whilst thou shalt come to judge the world by fire.
We trem- ble and are much afraid at the discussion, which null take place, and at thy future wrath, when the heavens and the earth shall be moved ; when thou shalt come to judge the world bv fire. That shall be a day of wrath, of calamity, and of misery ; a great and a most bitter day, when thou shalt come to judge the world by fire. Give them, 0 Lord, eternal rest: and let perpetual light shine upon them. Amen
