O God, who wiliest not the death, but the conversion of sinners ; look favourably on thy people, who, honouring the humiliations and the glories of thy holy life, fly to thy refuge with a contrite heart ; and in thy merciful kindness turn from us war, famine, pestilence, and all the other scourges of thine anger. Who livest and reign- est for ever and ever. Amen
