O Lord, hear, &c. (at above.) The Little Chapter. Office 2. I Ecce, virgo concipiet, et pa- riet filium, et vocabitur nomen ejus Emmanuel: butyrum et mei comedet, ut sciat repro- bare malum, et eligere bonum.

R. Deo gratias. Y. Dignare me laudare te, Virgo sacrata.

R. Da mihi virtutem eontra hostes tuos. Kyrie eleison. Christe elei- son. Kyrie eleison.

V. Domine, exaudi oratio- nem meam.

R. Et clamor meus ad te veniat. Oremus. Deus, qui de beatae Mariae Virginis utero. Verbum tuum, angelo nuntiante, carnem sus- cipere voluisti; praesta sup- plicibus tuis, ut qui vere eam genitricem Dei credimus, ejus apud te intercessionibus adju- vemur. Per eumdem Domi- num, &c. i. vii. 14, 15. Behold, a virgin shall con- ceive, and bear a son, and his name shall be called Emma- nuel: butter and honey «hall he eat, that he may know to refuse the evil, and to choose the good.

V. Vouchsafe that I may praise thee, O sacred Virgin.

R. Give me strength against thine enemies.
