O Lord J esus Christ, who, by the mouth of the prophet, hast said : I have loved thee with an everlasting love, therefore have I drawn thee to myself, taking pity on thee, — vouchsafe, I beseech thee, to offer and present to God the Father almighty, for the soul of this thy ser- vant N., that same love which drew thee down from heaven to earth, to bear the INSTRUCTIONS AND DEVOTIONS passionibus et poenis, quas pro peccatis suis timet se meruisse. Et salva animam ejus in hac hora exitus sui. Aperi ei januam vitae, et fac eum gaudere cum Sanctis tuis in gloria aeterna. Et tu, piissime Domine Jesu Christe, qui redemisti nos pretiosissimo sanguine tuo, miserere animae hujus fa- muli tui, et eam introdu- cere digneris ad semper vi- rentia et amoena loca Para- disi, ut vivat tibi amore in- divisibili, qui a te, et ab electis tuis numquam sepa- rari potest. Qui cum Patre et Spiritu Sancto vivis et regnas Deus in saecula sae- culorum.
R. Arnen. bitternesses of thy suffer- ings ; and deliver him from all the pains and sufferings which, for his sins, he fears he hath deserved. Oh, save his soul at this hour of its departure. Open to him the gate of life, and make him to rejoice with thy Saints in glory everlasting.
O Lord Jesus Christ, most merciful, who didst redeem us by thy most precious blood, have mercy on the soul of this thy servant, and vouchsafe to admit it into the ever- verdant gardens of Paradise, that it may live to thee in that inseparable love, by which thou art bound to thine elect, and they to thee eternally. Who, with the Father and the Holy Ghost, livest and reignest God for ever and ever. Amen
